Joey graduated from UCLA in 2013 with a degree in Bioengineering. As a senior, he decided that mixing chemicals in a lab just wasn’t going to cut it, so he decided to dive into programming. After taking one programming course, he was hooked. Upon graduating, Joey landed a job at Oracle doing solutions consulting. He would arrive at work at 6 a.m. each day and leave by 3 p.m. so he could head over to Starbucks for a daily coding session. This would go on for about a year.
Fast forward to 2018. Joey is now a Senior Full Stack Developer for the robotic camera company, SOLOSHOT, and loving every minute of it. The path to get there wasn’t easy, but looking back, it was well worth it. Joey has a passion for helping others, especially when they want to break into the coding world. With his self-taught experience, he feels like he can relate to many of the struggles students share early on, both programmatically and emotionally.
